Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains what mig99 collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the mig99 mobile application and nothing else.

1. Data controller

mig99 is the data controller for personal data processed through this application. You can reach us about anything in this document at support@mig99.app.

2. Where your data is stored

All data is stored and processed on servers located in the European Union — database and file storage in EU multi-region, and server-side processing in Frankfurt, Germany (europe-west3).

3. What we collect

We never receive your payment details. Point packs are purchased and billed entirely by Google Play on Android and by Apple's App Store on iPhone. Your card, bank, and billing address never reach us.

4. Location, specifically

Location is used for two things only: placing a chat room you create on the map, and placing a story you choose to share on the map, so that people nearby can find them.

When you create a room or share a story on the map, your device reads your position and then deliberately shifts it by a random offset of roughly 500 metres before anything is stored. The shifted point is what gets saved and shown. Your true coordinates are never written to our servers, never shown to other users, and never shared with anyone.

We do not track your location in the background, and we do not record where you are at any other time.

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

6. Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use these processors to operate the service:

Each operates under its own privacy policy, and where any data leaves the EU it is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.

Separately from processors: anything you post is visible to the people you post it to. Room messages are visible to that room, private messages to the person you sent them to, and your username, photo, bio and online status are visible to other users.

7. How long we keep it

8. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to access your data, correct it, erase it, export it in a portable format, restrict or object to how it is processed, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Two of these are built into the app and need no request:
Settings → Export My Data gives you a machine-readable copy of everything.
Settings → Delete My Account erases your account and its data.

For anything else, write to support@mig99.app. We answer within one month, as GDPR requires.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country. You can do that without contacting us first.

9. Children

mig99 is not for children. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. If you become aware that someone under 18 has an account, tell us and we will remove it.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to stored data is restricted by server-side security rules that are enforced on every read and write, not merely checked by the app. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
